Man pleads guilty to sexual offenses involving young males at summer camp
An individual who contaminated sweets with sleeping medication and provided them to minors at a summer camp in the region has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two children both nine and ten years old.
The accused was taken into custody after eight youngsters and an older person became sick at the location in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Yet, he denied one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was held in detention prior to a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, outlined Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She explained his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a youth camp which he operated.
The man engaged in a "candy game" with the minors, Mrs Prior said, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the defendant had engaged in this activity with the boys "over an extended period", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She said the man had been capable of justifying this for many years as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had suspicions in summer 2025.
The prosecutor added: "This year his stepson had concerns about the activities, justifiably.
"They resolved" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel said materials including infant oil, ointment and syringes were found, and his stepson alerted the authorities about his suspicions.
She stated Ruben continued to play the "treat game" with six youngsters that time - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the next day.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that stage," she added.
The regulatory agency, the investigative body, previously told that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
The legal representative explained the minors were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the family member called the authorities a second time.
She stated the man then conducted the "treat game" in a room of five minors.
